Bermuda, Bahama, Come on Pretty Mama

Announcement time?

I’ve been keeping it somewhat under wraps for no real reason but I’m excited to say that I am just seven days away from a vacation!

Even more exciting is that I’ll be going on this trip with my OG partner in crime, my sister Shannon!

This is easily the most last minute thing I’ve ever done but I couldn’t be more excited about it.

Exactly three weeks ago she texted me suggesting that we go on a cruise. I didn’t think it would be possible to fit into the dates she was proposing because, let’s be real, I’m working three jobs right now not including blogging. Through text and phone calls we managed to find dates that worked with all three jobs.

There was no questioning, it was happening. The moment I confirmed I could get the time off, Shannon booked like it was her job. We were confirmed on the boat and she had her plane ticket to Orlando.

This was happening.

I’m actually excited for a number of reasons. The primary is that I haven’t seen Shannon in a number of years. I’m actually not sure of the number because my memory sucks. I do know that the last couple times I was back home in Boston, I didn’t see her. My best guess is that it’s been at least two years, possibly three.

We haven’t done a family Christmas in some time. There’s a good reason but I won’t get into that right now.

I’m excited to see my sister!

Next, I’m excited because I’ve been working nonstop lately. I’m burnt out and exhausted. I’m excited to just get away from it all and quite literally. We’re going into international waters and as a result we won’t have access to the internet or phone data.

Is it weird that sounds wonderful to me?

More so, Shannon has never been on a cruise before so I’m excited to introduce her to the world of boat life.

Granted, I’ve only been on one myself, but I’ve been itching to do it again.

We’ll be sailing with Royal Caribbean who I was with on my first cruise and I’m actually really pumped to return to them. I’m a creature of habit so when I find something that works, I tend to stick with it. Despite some personal issues, I enjoyed my first cruise with them so I was eager to return.

Shannon and I had a few options for providers on the weekend we selected but I pushed for Royal Caribbean. Providing that she enjoys the weekend, I’m hoping we can make this a regular thing. I suggested that we aim for every six months. That will roughly put us at each of our birthdays, sailing the high seas.

Who knows.

I’m probably getting ahead of myself.

I think we’re going to have a good time.

I guess that’s it for now. I plan on updating as we go along. We have some fun stuff planned for the cruise and I have some surprises up my sleeve for the trip. I’m not sure is Shannon reads this so I’m keeping my mouth shut for now.

More to come on this adventure soon!!

  1. I need to know the story about Christmas. That’s like, “Here is this really interesting subject, I’ll tell you later.” It’s gonna be what I’m up wondering about at 2am. How you gonna do that to me?

    1. Haha I am, indeed the worst. And I 100% forgot I wrote that. I stupidly made a promise to my sister that I wouldn’t write about my mom while she is still alive. In retrospect, I realize it’s because she knows that our mom is horrible but isn’t willing to admit it to herself or anyone else.
Depending on my mood, maybe I’ll start to jot some stuff down. I’m currently dealing with a busted A/C so concentrating on anything right now isn’t happening.
      Someday.

      1. Idk if it is a useful suggestion or not, but a day when I was waiting for mine to get fixed, I made some Pina Coladas. And put little umbrellas in them. It was stuff I had, so ymmv when you use what you can find hiding in the back of a cupboard. But I put a little paper umbrella in my hair and sat at my kitchen table and jammed to some reggae.
