Adventures in Doing Nothing

I have been trying really hard lately to give myself at least one day of relaxation. A day where I’m not thinking about my to-do list, answering emails, errands. None of it.

This is actually really hard for me since I’m an extreme workaholic. I like to be busy and I’m not content unless my hair is falling out from stress.

I didn’t say it was a healthy lifestyle!

Nevertheless, I prevailed and for the second Sunday in a row, I have taken some time to really enjoy life.

That being said, I totally did some work today but my main focus was on relaxing and having a good time.

First and foremost, I took myself to go see Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2.

Normally you couldn’t pay me to go to a movie on opening weekend but with the internet the way it is, this movie was going to get ruined if I waited too long. People were already posting stuff on Facebook so I didn’t want to wait too long.

I opted for a matinee showing. Honestly, this is the only way I will see a movie.

I love it.

The earlier the better.

There was probably a total of fifteen people in the entire theatre. This is my favorite because the likelihood of anyone annoying the crap out of me is low.

As for the movie I really enjoyed it. Obviously Baby Groot is my most favorite thing in the entire world. He managed to be adorable and break my heart.

I need a Baby Groot.

I did something today I feel like it’s been years since I’ve done. I sat on my back porch and read a book.

How sad is that?

I have fallen off the reading wagon despite the fact that I am CONSTANTLY buying new books. I’m a book hoarder.

I’m currently reading Joey Graceffa’s book “In Real Life: My Journey to a Pixelated World.” I’m actually not familiar with Joey’s work at all as a YouTuber but his book was recommended to me so I’m giving it a go.

My favorite thing about today was actually building a Lego set! It went along with my Guardians theme for the day!

I bought this Lego set well over a month ago as an incentive gift to myself. I promised myself I could build it once I finished my book “Cyberbullying: Perpetrators, Bystanders and Victims”. That wasn’t enough so I then had to complete my taxes (I am notorious for waiting until the last minute to get them done).

Then it came about finding the time to build a Lego set.

Today was that day!

It took me about an hour to build and it was a fun distraction. I have no idea what I’m going to do with it now but it’s done!

I ended up buying another Guardians Lego Set today as well because I was annoyed the one I made today didn’t have Rocket in it. I’m going to save building this one for another day.

I really wish I had something more interesting to report. It’s been a super crazy, stressful week so I’m excited I survived this far.

Here’s a picture of Guinness helping me build my Lego set.

  1. I loved this! Having 3 kids between the ages of 1.5 and 5 years old, I get to build Lego a lot, and it’s definitely a fun distraction, almost as much fun as doing a puzzle.
FYI… I might know someone who can make you a baby Groot… 😉 (I have one on my list of things to crochet – my brother in law wants one for his birthday…)
